Kinsterna Hotel

The location is absolutely beautiful, with wonderful views over the surrounding area and plenty of activities, especially for families with children, although there is also a lot for adults to enjoy. The food was one of the highlights of our stay. All three restaurants were exceptional, and the breakfast was genuinely one of the best we have ever had. We especially loved the emphasis on local and homemade products, including the hotel’s own honey and eggs, handmade marmalades and other regional products. It added a very special touch to the experience. The staff were also consistently kind, helpful and in a good mood, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The room itself was clean and the bathroom was a good, adequate size.

The main downside, however, was the number of wasps around the property. Of course, this is not entirely within the hotel’s control, as the hotel is surrounded by nature, and other insects are to be expected. The other bugs were not really a problem, but the wasps were on a completely different level. Whenever we tried to eat outside, we were surrounded by many of them, not just one or two. They were also constantly around the swimming pools, most likely attracted by the water and food. The hotel has two beautiful pools, but unfortunately the number of wasps made it difficult to properly relax and enjoy them. The staff explained that this year and the previous year had been particularly bad for wasps in the area. I am not sure how much can realistically be done about it, but it is definitely something guests should be aware of before booking, especially anyone with a wasp allergy or strong phobia, and families travelling with babies, toddlers or very young children.

Kinsterna Hotel is an absolute gem in the Peloponnese! Set among peaceful olive groves, this restored Byzantine estate offers a serene, fairytale atmosphere paired with luxury. The farm-to-table food, especially the incredible breakfast and dinner was an absolute highlight. Combined with warm, exceptional staff and fantastic estate activities (from pool days to grape crushing and wine tastings), it’s an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return!
