Staff were lovely and held bags even after check out. Very comfortable and great amenities in the hotel.

Did not realise there was a bath tax charge.

Too much fish for breakfast every day. If you have a fish allergy (as my travelling companion had) you will struggle to eat anything at breakfast as there were no alternatives to fish available. I like fish but am conscious that too much of it is not healthy - mercury poisoning from excessive amounts of fish is a reality, and I didn’t feel comfortable with the smog fish that was offered day after day. The alternative was to not eat it and get breakfast elsewhere, but we had paid for breakfast in our room-rate!

The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the balcony bath is such a lovely extra feature which makes your stay feel special.

The location for us was good because we booked the hotel in between cities and wanted to rest and not travel around Hakone excessively. However, a lot of the main attractions in Hakone such as the Hakone loop is a good 40 mins away just to begin it. So if you want a more relaxed holiday this hotel is perfect, but if you want more excursions then maybe another hotel is better suited.

Hotel and room were very outdated. We didnt't enjoy the restaruant either. It may well be excellent for locals but for us the food was too 'difficult' to handle. We barley touched the breakfast courses
