Hotel zur Malzmühle Tradition & Brauhaus Köln Altstadt

Decent if unexceptional room, nice and clean, comfy bed, great location for the main attractions in Cologne. Bar/restaurant downstairs was a nice bonus (didn't eat but drank plenty of beers).

The smell from the kitchens wafts up to the rooms - so hope you like pork.

The room is modernly furnished, good shower and comfortable bed.

My room was adjacent to a party room. Some kind of party with loud music and DJ was happening until the early morning hours. The only think separating me from this noise was the stairwell. I could not fall asleep until 2:30am. Sleep is the most important aspect of a hotel stay, and I did not get a good sleep.

Great location, easy to walk to from the train station an anywhere in the old town. Bedrooms are nicely decorated. Breakfast is very good. And it was easy to talk to the hotel Staff thru booking.com, very quick to respond. it was also a good surprise to have a bar and a restaurant on the ground floor; It makes the hotel look squeezed "in between", but it's cool to get a night beer.

The reception staff’s welcome was not as warm as expected. On arrival after 10pm, we were surprised to find someone at the desk (since we had received a code for self-check-in). The staff member present was not particularly friendly—possibly the night shift? not sure. Similarly, the next morning, when we had to give back a document with personal details at the desk, there was no greeting or follow-up to ask about our stay or room. So don't expect a warm relationship with the staff members, not sure how it would have worked in case of a problem with the room of any kind, but the hotel is still a good address

Decent value for money. Good bedding. Clean

I didn’t love the location, noise, neighborhood.
