Casa da Madalena Backpackers Hostel

I was amazed by how lovely this place was. I had no idea hostels could be like this! The staff were above and beyond friendly and helpful. They really facilitated a communal vibe and made it very easy to meet people. The kitchen is well stocked with a huge fridge that includes space for your food as well as a "free food" shelf. There is always cold water. There is laundry for a fee and a drawer of extra toiletries/sunscreen that folks need to leave behind. They lead a sunset walk every evening and it is really beautiful and a great way to bring everyone together. Folks usually end up going to dinner somewhere after. The other reviews weren't lying, the pancake breakfast is amazing. I am still in awe of how clean everything was and there are SO. MANY. BATHROOMS. Don't skip the one on the roof, it's basically an outdoor shower and was such a nice experience. There are a few hammocks up there which is very comfy and a great place to grab some peaceful time to yourself. The beds were comfy enough, even tho I have trouble sleeping in a dorm. There is a little shelf in the bunk and a light and outlet to charge things. The curtains work well and it feels pretty private. Highly recommend, definitely changed how I see hostels.

The pillow was a little lackluster and the beds make some noise when you move around, but that is to be expected I think.

The staff were genuinely amazing, so helpful, happy and kind. The place was spotless and it was all lovely. Location was fantastic.

No all female dorms, but they're being built, so one day soon!

Location, bed, toilet and the people. Just the interaction with Bandi and Hayden makes me want to book a ticket again to Faro and stay for longer since I only stayed for one night at the Casa.
