Style and location were great.
Not a lot of food options close by at night.

This machiya was better than the pictures! And the location was many times better than I had imagined. Really, quite a special place.
The bathroom was great, fitted with a spacious shower and tub with a window into the garden. You can set and control the temperature of the tub water as well. Wonderful to return to after a day of walking.
Living room peaceful and plenty big enough for our group of three. I slept in the Japanese style room on a futon which was wonderful.
The meeting location prior to going to going to the machiya is very close to the station, from there the receptionists can help call a taxi.
The combo washer/dryer machines never really work for me when it comes to drying clothes. Better off air-drying them. Which is fine :) Just good to know in advance, because the dryer function on this machine is a bit loud and takes a bit of time, which you may not have

So close to Yasaka pagoda. The convenient and peaceful.
The dryer took a little too long and the socks kept getting stuck in between the door and opening
