The Hotel and staff is good but needs renovation overall. Aarif helped me first day with the checkin and also helped with the higher floor. Yesterday I met the other reception staff Vivek and Madhumita for extension they also provided me upgrade and good price.

It's a quirky place. If it was a 4* hotel it would be a really good one. But there's plenty of annoyances to make it a frustrating experience at times. The room we had was big and had a great view. The bed was big and very comfortable. The shower was excellent.

The light switches in the room were the most complicated I have ever come across in a hotel room. Sometimes it took several minutes to figure out how to turn various lights on and off. And I'm an engineer!!! The room was generally a bit "tired" and could do with redecorating. The fridge was broken. There were no dressing gowns, which I would expect in a 5* hotel with a pool. Speaking of the pool, it was pretty to look at from a distance but actually quite broken up close with many, many, tiles missing. I would be worried to try using it for fear of cutting my feet on the bottom. It needs a complete refurbishment. It's also basically in the outdoor area of the restaurant so you'd feel very self-conscious using it. There were also no sun loungers, so it felt like it was really for show, not for use. We never saw anyone use it, probably for those reasons. The restaurant is ok. We found the buffet selections rather mediocre. Lots of very low cost carb items. There were usually items missing from the table (glasses, tissue, cutlery) and staff could be quite slow to serve hot drinks. We ended up fetching our own on multiple occasions. For some bizarre reason, the hotel insisted on taking payment at the start of our stay and wouldn't set up a tab on the room. So if we wanted a drink, we'd have to pay for it then and there. I've never seen that before. Weird, and unprofessional. In the end, we just took our business elsewhere and ate at other restaurants and bars away from the hotel. Thankfully there are plenty of options within a 5-min walk. Especially go over the railway bridge and turn right to find a row of excellent bars and restaurants. Would we stay again? Maybe, but certainly not at the price we paid this time.
