The Duchess of Cornwall

The room, the comfy bed, the bathroom. The welcoming from the staff. The hotel itself, the way everything was very well executed and you were transported back to that era even though the hotel was built in 2016 with modern facilities.

The service at the breakfast. The breakfast itself was very good, but we felt overlooked by the staff. Maybe a misunderstanding somewhere?

The restaurant does not quite come up to the properties standard . Breakfast was for a 4 star hotel very economic and not particularly well presented

Easy parking close to the residence. Huge bar but very expensive drinks a pint and a glass of wine 17 pounds...

Pondesbury is a bizarre Trumpian village put up by Charles R that is singularly bizarre and strange. The Hotel/Pub is situated in an empty and soulless square. The Duchess of Cornwall is really a pub with rooms, hotel facilities and staffing actually zero. If you have a dog which we did you are put on the top floor where the temperature of the rooms has to be in the seventies even with all the windows open making it very uncomfortable if you dont like warm rooms. I cannot imagine what it must have been like in the recent heatwave. The entrance and exit for residents is a side door and most un-hotel like. On reflection Dorchester is a town ro avoid if you are looking for traditional English country town with trad facilities.
