Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff always available to help, free freshly ground coffee, and an amazing view of the Kaikoura ranges and the ocean from the terrace. This is a wonderful hostel where I would definitely be back

It felt like a home - very welcoming and clean with a very user friendly and generous kitchen. Lovely log fire and couches. Fantastic views and right in town. Lots of useful kitchen items if you are travelling light. Bed was super comfortable (I booked a room to myself)
I felt the number of toilets and showers were a bit low, especially if the lodge was full. I would not have wanted to wait too long for the toilet (only saw 2 toilets and 2 showers). I never encountered a problem personally though. Lots of products left behind though so very generous if you are travelling light.

Great location, nice back packers, seemed clean, and the host was lovely and friendly.
Having to share a bathroom, but that was my fault for not reading the listing properly!
