Great location to stop after a long trek back from Scotland. Easy to get to. Lovely old building and pub. Food was excellent. Staff really made an effort to be as helpful as possible. Close to Barnard Castle. Used the spa facilities which where nice. The room we had with our 2 dogs was set apart from the main building and was large and quiet. Exactly what we required. We were able to walk them.up and down a quiet country lane easily enough. Amazing stars at night.
In general or room and the spa facilities were in need of an update and makeover. The room was a little bit dusty and dated. WiFi was pretty much non existent in the room. And phone coverage was sporadic at best.

Lovely main building and garden in wonderful location. Pleasant staff.
Annex room was dated, dreary and dirty. Bathroom mould.
