This hotel is in a class of its own. It embodies the ideals of late 19th-century French hospitality and quality, at least how I imagine it to have been, and delivers them in the early 21st century! A miracle! A time capsule!
(Note: 20th century amenities such as electricity, a telephone to call reception, warm and cold water in all guest rooms, and radio-telegraphy — they call it "the internet" now — are available and of flawless quality.)
Marcel Proust died in 1922. I somehow anyway did expect to meet him in the breakfast room.
One thing: Please mention in your online resources that guests could, if they wish, bring proper dinner attire. Even compared to the other guests, I was hopelessly underdressed, and the best-dressed people at dinnertime were the waiters. The menu is absolutely worthy some respect (IMHO).

This is a gorgeous property with wonderful surroundings. We stayed in two attic rooms as a family of four and the rooms and bathrooms suited perfectly to our needs. The night was very quiet and the breakfast was excellent.
Although the building is beautiful as it is, the rooms can highly benefit from a renovation. There was no issue with the cleaning but the run down feeling of the room made a strange impression when we first entered our rooms.

The hotel was full of charm and wonderfully French.
The gardens were perfect to relax in and excercise our dogs, who were made very welcome.
It was great that the hotel had EV chargers
The food in the restaurant was exceptional
The hotel restaurant was very busy and we had to wait for over an hour to be seated

The star of the show at this hotel is the restaurant. We both enjoyed a fabulous meal, I am a vegetarian and frequently France is an issue for me but this hotel had both a starter and a main course that were delicious. My husband declared his meal the best of the holiday and he is not easily pleased! The wine list is really good too. Staff were so friendly and attentive especially Morgan.
The hotel is dated and tired. Our room in the orangerie was OK but is desperately in need of a refurbishment. The gardens are also a little tired and it's a real shame that the tennis court has been left to get so overgrown. However, we did both sleep well so the bed and the pillows were comfortable and the water in the bathroom was good and hot!
