The Kingsbury Colombo

This is a very grand old hotel with beautiful rooms and a nice pool area and rooftop bar with great views over Colombo. The foyer is amazing and the buffet breakfast incredibly good. Sadly the service didn’t quite stack up. We reserved two rooms side by side but arrived to find only 1 room booked. Another room was found but with a bit of stress for my mum who arrives from overseas first, she ended up on a different floor. I arrived very late in the evening and found my ‘pool view’ room was a view of the car park. I was advised this was because I arrived late, and the other rooms already taken. I would expect you only sell as many pool view rooms as you have! It was difficult having my family across two floors of the hotel, despite my booking several months in advance. The staff are incredibly kind and the rooms are nice but service lets the hotel down, there was no hot water in the shower during peak hours (3pm ish) so we had cold showers before going to another hotel for dinner. I wouldn’t have paid this amount for a room over looking a dirty car park had I known. The staff are lovely, and the location is excellent but value isn’t there for the average service experience.

The hotel is very old everything is worn out.. specially the armchairs at the lobby are disgustingly dirty.. the hotel need needs renovation everything is old We booked in a smoking room.. the hallway to our room smells bad.. smoking room in airport doesn’t smell this bad..
