The room was clean and comfortable. Dinner was also delicious, and private onsen was nice (although, water was EXTREMELY hot - be careful). Staff was friendly and serviceable.

The hotel has seen better days. You can tell there were glory days back in the day, but it felt like a ghost town inside. I assume Covid has taken a toll on the budget and something is got to give. Like the lack of water in the huge water fountain in the lower level, lack of a real bar service, the poor breakfast choices (specially if you are vegetarian or western).

The staff escorted us everywhere.

That the swimming pool was closed. It was a big reason why I booked this location.

The staff was really nice and took the time to communicate with us the best they could even though we don’t know a bit of Japanese. They were all just really nice people! The baths were wonderful and our room was an authentic old style Japanese room. The dinner was an excellent experience. We would for sure come again.

For specifically English speaking guests, I would recommend having an instruction sheet. For instance we did not know we were supposed to wear a Kimono for dinner and we were worried we were being rude when we showed up in our street clothes.
