Thermae Palace

If you wanna visit Oostende, it is probably the most iconic building/hotel in which you can stay. The current state of the hotel is a bit of a time capsule, it looks like something that was built in the 60s/70s ( and also not renovated in the meantime). In a weird way, it did not bother us at all. Yes, the paint is going away, the furniture is outdated, the terrace wooden planks are rotten, the sunbeds are close to breaking ... Yet, we still loved it. The rooms ( the ones on the 1st floor, facing the sea) are very spacious, the bed mattress was amazing ( we had two great sleeping nights). It will close for renovations somewhere in February 2027, hope some of the charm will stay.

The lady at the reception was cold. Very cold. Almost unpleasant cold.

The Belle Epoque ambience and the position are invaluable. The staff was really very welcoming. The breakfast with sea view also very good.

The room was too hot also with window open and unfortunately we had a duvet on the bed that was too much.

Sehr grosszügiges Zimmer mit Terrasse mit Blick aufs Meer, genügend Ablageflächen, bequemes Bett. Sehr ruhig, man hört nur die Brandung.

Im Bett hat es zwei Kissen, aber beide gleich gross/dick. Ich hätte ein dünneres bevorzugt und wäre froh gewesen, wenn ich die Auswahl zwischen zwei verschiedenen Kissen gehabt hätte.

Location and history are great. But its old and pricey given the age.
