Briqueterie Champagne, A Beauvallon Hotel & Spa

Beautiful location and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Lovely room and decor.

We have been several times before and always enjoyed the Alcove restaurant as it is a real treat for us. Previously it has always been first class and worth the price tag as a special occasion. However, on this visit the menu choice was limited, the main course is usually served with a silver cloche that the waiters remove at the table. I saw our meals come out without the cloche and were left for some time on a side table and when served were lukewarm; the quality of the food was very disappointing. The staff in the restaurant are lovely but it seemed short staffed. The hotel seems to have had some economy cuts all round at the hotel over the last year or so. The concierge was great but we were sad to see that the longstanding concierge, Kingsley, had gone who was always amazing and remembered regular visitors.

The charm of an elegant country house. The rooms are spacious and functional, the beds very comfortable. The restaurant is a delight. Special mention as well for the spa treatments.

We loved loved loved this hotel. The staff were incredible.

The gym was slightly disappointing for us but we are quite into weights. The facilities were in mint condition and were otherwise good.

The hotel itself was beautiful and exactly what we'd been hoping for, but it fell short as I'll explain in the next question.

It's taken me a couple of weeks to write this, as I didn't want to be as harsh as I was feeling about our stay at Hotel Briqueterie right after we left. We were traveling with friends and this was our last stop before Paris and we wanted to splurge a bit. I'd booked 2 rooms in February and we stayed there in September. We were assigned a handicap room, which was fine if it was the only room left, but we'd booked MONTHS in advance. The bathroom wasn't ideal for us as the toilet and shower were all in one. Please don't imagine that I don't appreciate the handicap facilities, as they were great if needed, but fortunately for us at this time, they were not. There was also no cold water in the tap for brushing teeth and we went to the front desk 3 times to get help, with no solution other than getting a bottle of sparkling water (not ideal for brushing teeth!) The one time I spoke with the concierge about our room, he asked if I'd just booked it recently. When I told him I'd booked in February, he was genuinely surprised! The staff were all very nice and super friendly, but we were disappointed in our stay. There was a very large group of 30-40 guests, I'd say, who were extremely loud and they had a live band playing on our last night until almost 1:00 a.m. in the morning. This is not a large hotel where one might expect that and I would have assumed that the hotel management would have closed down the band at least at a reasonable hour, out of respect for the other guests in the hotel. Unfortunately our room was at the other end of the hall on the same floor as the bar, so we heard everything! I would have loved to give this hotel a higher rating, but it was disappointing. It certainly didn't ruin our time in the Champagne region, but we absolutely expected a lot more from the hotel for what we were paying.
