Amazingly kind, considerate, helpful staff. They went above and beyond in all that they did from thy eminent we arrived to when we left. Absolutely incredible hospitality!

This hotel was beyond beautiful. I stayed here 2 out of 4 nights in Kyoto to celebrate an important event and it did not disappoint. The room (named 丹Tan) was so stunning that at first, I felt nervous to touch anything. It was super spacious with a window facing an internal patio with a waterfall. The tatami was perfect and the futon was incredibly comfortable to sleep in (this was set up for me the two nights I stayed). There was also a mini fridge with some water and a beautiful mirror and tea to enjoy throughout the stay. The bathroom was out of a magazine, everything was wood and pristine. There was a little stool to sit on and wash before jumping into the bathtub with yuzu. They also provide a yukata to walk comfortably around the hotel. The communal dinning room was gorgeous, facing that internal garden I mentioned earlier. I have no words to describe the food. I had breakfast and a kaiseki dinner. I seriously recommend both. The staff were incredibly helpful.

There is seriously nothing I could mention. Bare in mind though that there are stairs to the rooms and you need to wear their home footwear which can be slippery if you are not used to them.

It felt like you were stepping back in time but with modern facilities. The staff were exceptionally attentive, very friendly and always there to help and advise. The owner explained the slipper and bath etiquette very nicely.

Liked it all

The location was nice. The ambiance was nice. Even though the pictures are misleading. You think when you arrive in the hotel that it is located in a garden or park or outside a bit of the city. They just have a small garden with a wall surrounded in order not to see that you are in the middle of the city. There was a small waterfall which was fake. They would shut it off at night.

Breakfast was very early and you had to make a reservation either 7:30 or 8:00 or 8:30! Also breakfast was only Japanese food, like fried fish, spices and rice in the morning. The bathroom of the room was very very cold. The whole lobby and corridors would smell like gas. They told us because it was cold these days they were using extra gas heaters. Not very nice.
