My priorities were easy access by bus to the city centre, and somewhere nearby for an evening meal. Giffnock Rooms is in an attractive residential area on a main bus route into the centre of Glasgow. The location was perfect and I had a choice of places to eat within 100 metres. The hosts provide a simple, self-service breakfast of cereal and fruit, which I appreciated.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

I have stayed here many times before. Jacqui is always super friendly and so kind. It's a home from home. You feel safe and it's very accessibile from central Glasgow. Beautiful decor, good restaurants nearby. Nothing is too much trouble for Jacqui.

It was easy to find on the main road through Giffnock and only a 5 minute walk from the railway station (15 mins into Glasgow Central). Ideal. There was off-street parking in front of the house and I was met with a friendly welcome. I actually had a choice of rooms as well. The room was spacious for 2 people complete with en suite. Everything looked very new and freshly decorated. Ideal location for trips in and around Glasgow city as so close to the main stations and downtown.A

Unfortunately the double bed - almost a metre off the floor - proved a challenge for my companion but there was also a single bed which she could use. I am average height and the bed was not ideal so, if booking with Giffnock rooms, do ask about this. We found the mattress far too soft and it actually made it more difficult to get on the bed. On day 2 our host provided a stool to get into the bed. A nice gesture but far from ideal and the single bed proved a good standby. Tea/coffee/milk was down the corridor - would be better to have those little packets in the room as in most hotels. I think our host will be disappointed with our criticism as she is well-intentioned and made her best effort. However it would be unfair to other bookers not to give an honest review.
