Lovely bungalows on top of the water! The surroundings are amazing, from the wharf you can see a broad variety of fish (even baby sharks and dungeon!). We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, sound of the jungle, and enjoyed our hammock and the relaxing area with bean bags. Staff is very friendly, food is tasty. Bathroom is very basic, during daytime there is no electricity which wasn’t a problem for us. Overall great stay and island life experience!

I loved the people the most — they were incredibly kind and always willing to help with anything. I injured my knee during the trip and one of the staff members took care of it, which I really appreciated. They were always attentive, offering extra towels when needed and making sure we were comfortable at all times. Considering how remote the location is (Kri Island in Raja Ampat), where electricity is only available from 7 pm to midnight, they truly do an amazing job with what they have. We never felt like anything was missing. There was plenty of delicious food, drinking water was always available, and they organized group activities to make everything more affordable. They also picked us up from the port, which made everything much easier. Overall, it’s a simple place, but everything is very well managed and thoughtfully done.

There wasn’t really anything I didn’t like. Just something to keep in mind: due to the remote location, electricity is only available until midnight, which can make it a bit warm at night. But this is part of the experience of staying in such a unique and untouched place, and the staff does everything they can to make you comfortable.

I booked my stay at Gibran gest house a couple of weeks before my arrival in Raja Ampat. I tried to contact the owner several times (on booking, WhatsApp….) asking for directions, but I never received an answer. Once I got there, they were not expecting me and were overbooked, although the owner had received my reservation, and had received my messages… it seems that they are either overwhelmed by the requests, or there is lack of organisation. They ended up sending me to another gest house, and kept telling me that the following day I could move back to Gibran, but that never happened. I found other travellers who experience the same, so it seems to be the modus operandi. On the other hand I must say that the guest houses are pretty similar, so I’m not sure if I missed anything.

Communication and booking procedures need to be improved.
