Steps from the ocean and pier as well as from Main Street with great shops and restaurants. Its also an easy walking distance to the Alamitos Bay Harbor, PCH & 2nd and other local restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The house is nicely set up with main living, dining, kitchen and master in a light filled upstairs (working skylights and all). Guests or others staying with you will be comfortable in one of two bedrooms with living area downstairs. This is a rare home at the beach with 3 private outdoor living spaces that are nicely appointed. The Turnkey team was great to work with for any questions before and during my stay and the owner clearly cares well for this lovely property.

Seal Beach has an ordinance that strictly prohibits short term rentals (defined as any rental less than 29 days). Our lease term was for 10 days, although the lease was cleverly constructed to give the appearance that the term was for a month. Neither the owner nor the property manager (Turnkey) advised us of the short term rental ban. In fact, the property manager called us shortly before the commencement date to tell us that we might be questioned about who we were and why we were there and, if so, we should misrepresent that we were “friends of Steve”, whoever he may be. We were not prepared to do that. Well, two days into the rental, a Seal Beach compliance officer showed up at the door and, sure enough, asked who we were, what our relation to the property was, whether we were VRBO renters, and whether we were aware of the ordinance. We then learned that the ordinance’s enforcement provisions applied not only to the owners but also to any “users” of the property. Rather than run that risk, we left the property three days early. Our request for a partial refund fell on deaf ears. The property was below average based upon our prior VRBO experiences. The house was musty upon arrival but improved after we kept windows open for a full day. The rooftop was unattractive at best. It looked as if it had not been cleaned in weeks and the furniture was tired and stained. The property manager did offer to send a crew to clean up but there wasn’t anything they could have done to correct the seating situation. The view was uninspiring so we simply chose to avoid the rooftop. The downstairs veranda was more suitable in any event. The furnishings are a bit dated. The rug in the master is frayed and oversized to the point where the border at the entrance to the bathroom turns up and presents an obvious tripping opportunity if traversed in the dark of night. The property manager assured us this would be looked into to avoid future problems. The saving grace is that the location is conveniently close to the beach (no beach towels provided). But, if you favor a fresh and up-to-date fit and finish, you might choose to look elsewhere. And, given the municipal ban on short term rentals, be prepared for the scrutiny of disgruntled neighbors.

Bathrooms, bedrooms are nice. There was no place for clothes in one of the bedrooms. The furniture is not particularly beach like. Dining room table only has 4 chairs. Most importantly the combination lock on the back did not work. The front door doesn't have a combination lock so you can't leave it locked and still go in and out the front door. The only entry is then via the garage.

This was a fantastic property for 6 people. So close to the Beach and right around the corner, walking distance, to maim street. We will be booking this house again soon.

We enjoyed our time at the house. Location was perfect. Close to shops, restaurants, and beach. Loved having a garage for parking and the wagon and chairs for the beach. A few issues with things not working when we got there (ice maker, upstairs door lock, cable TV) and a few things we had to buy (can opener, sponges, dish towels, potholders for kitchen, iron), but nothing major and manager was very responsive. Would definitely stay again.
