Onyado Nono Matsumoto Natural Hot Spring

This Japanese-style hotel was a lovely surprise!! A brilliant way to experience Japanese culture. The cleanest hotel we’ve ever seen — before or since. Free ramen is offered to all guests from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm. The onsen (spa) is very, very good and clean… Free ice cream for everyone on the spa floor. A very good breakfast with a wide selection of dishes. Very hospitable staff. Great experience!!!

The outdoor onsen was a great differentiator, as were the small refreshments available outside of the onsen. Clean rooms, comfortable bed, friendly staff, and an epic breakfast buffet with so many available options. Super close walking distance to train station, bus station (to Kamikochi), shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as key sights.

The checkin process felt clunky and strange considering how many staff were standing behind the desk to help, they ushered everyone at checkin time to self-checkin kiosks which on two occasions didn’t scan the passport correctly and we then needed to go to reception desk only to go back to the kiosk.

1. Similar to other hotels within Dormy Inn group, there're ice bars, ice cream bar and ice cream sandwich available after onsen. A great service. 2. Welcome drinks and noodle for supper are also good. 3. Helpful staff. Received email from JR for cancellation of booked train. Went to front desk to seek advice at night. At that moment, both male and female staff didn't speak English. But the female staff got an off duty young male staff to help. He checked for alternatives, including bus/coach availability and advised us to go to the terminus next am to buy tickets for Shinjuku (that what I did). Thanks!

Guests need to take off shores when enter Hotel. There's nothing wrong, though I'm not used to it. As an old guy, it took me some time to do so.

Cleanliness, proximity to the JR station, nice shared bath, availability of free goodies like ice cream , ramen and nice coffee stands

We stayed in a room which was very beautiful but extremely inconvenient: the bed was too small and uncomfortable, pillows were very difficult to relax upon :we could not get a decent rest after a long day Another hurdle was a difficulty finding a reasonable way to do some laptop work in the room
