We booked in so that we could attend the Theatre Royal, which is close by. We wondered whether the parking would be adequate, and it was. We had lunch on arrival. My wife ordered chicken kiev but the dish was really chicken escalopes, but still nice. We liked our room. Temperature control via radiator valves. Very comfortable and clean. The bathroom equipment looked brand new.

The Manager was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, we had my 5 year old daughter and he was very attentice and inclusive

An overnight visit to Bury St Edmond’s to see a play at the local theatre. Chose this hotel for its proximity to the theatre. Hotel is in excellent condition due to an ongoing renovation but the downside was a lack of parking on site. Hotel was very clean and comfortable however and we would stay again once they fix the parking situation.

Adam and his team were great, after my wife had to visit A&E he contacted us to say he would stay up incase we were back very late and needed to change room.
The crisis over the nextday we enjoyed the pub ambience lovely rooms and food.
Great stay in central Bury St Edmunds fo a 50th birthday celebration weekend.

Best Greene King i've stayed in

I believe it had just reopened after being closed for a whilst for refurbishment. Having not seen the before i cannot comment on the works undertaken. However the place i visited was super, friendly staff (dont think they had been refurbished), great room and very comfy. The rooms are in the adjoining property, so isolated for the jovial atmosphere in the restaurant. And it was jovial and busy (on a Wednesday evening) and again the staff were brill. The food was some of the best ive had in ages, accompanied by two glasses of very reasonably priced glasses on champagne.
My room faced the road, which was busy early evening was very quite come bedtime.
Perfect breakfast including the poached egg (inside joke). The only complaint was that i was only there for one night

This is a sweet little hotel connected to a restaurant. The rooms are clean and windows open nicely. The bed is comfortable and bathroom is clean and roomy. Insiders secret: if you want to order from the restaurant to your room for room-service you have to pre-order the meal. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Room was gloomy and nosiy. Either people outside smoking and shouting until late and then staff banging doors repeatedly at 05.30am.
The bathroom windows and shower were covered in mold.
Many reviews here state how good breakfast was, they must have stayed at another pub. Breakfast was controlled beyond belief, everything had to be requested; if you asked for toast you would eventualy get a single piece of bread, if you wanted butter, you had to ask for it. If you wanted sugar, again you had to ask for it.
This is now on my 'never stay here again' list

The property is in the Heart of the town, within a short walk of the Abbey gardens, brewery, theatre and cathedral.
I found the hardworking staff friendly, helpful and friendly.
I found my stay in their accommodation to be comfortable, with all modern amenities.
I would recommend this property, and would stay there again if I visit Bury St Edmunds again

Although very nice the gentleman checking us in gave us the impression that everything was to much work, didn’t offer to help with our bags and when I asked which way to our rooms he showed me into the courtyard and pointed at a door and said he was going to take this opportunity to have a cigarette, the room very basic but clean and they did manage to get us a table for dinner and we were able to watch the football staff were lovely

Staff and room lovely, but communal areas outside room a little ‘tired’. Excellent food and beer, and positioning for access to the town cannot be beaten.

Reasonable accommodation and in line with other Pub based hotels in the area although a little more pricy (not significantly) than some of a similar standard. Parking limited and difficult to find would be good if directions where available prior to check inn. my only negative was it was recycling day and I was woken up by the emptying of a bottle bin

The management and staff were very good from the start of our stay. The ground floor room we stayed in had a wardrobe and large double bed. The only thing that let it down was the state of the carpet.

Great service from the very friendly staff in comfortable rooms within a lovely pub. Nothing too much for anyone with a great drink choice and a lovely menu.

Great rooms in good location near to centre but this makes it difficult to park. You’ll need to find parking elsewhere.

We left at 10:30pm on the first night! Property and room was dirty. Room smelt and carpets were filthy. Cleaner was spraying Fabreeze into all rooms to disguise the bad smell. Manager was self isolating in one of the rooms. Room was very very hot as no air conditioning and windows had to be kept shut as we had downstairs room which opened out onto street. Asked for fan and were told that there were none. Wheelie bins were lined up right outside window and smelt as it was weather was hot. Will not be booking here again!

A lovely old building in the heart of Bury. Handy free patking at back if property. Friendly and accomodating staff.
Room a bit dingy and worn and needs refurbishing. Bathroom good size with ok shower and plenty of warm water, but needs an overhaul. This place needs some TLC which it deserves.Breakfast not included but feel it should have been for the room price.

Very friendly manager and staff in the pub, food fab and reasonable prices. Shame the rooms were not up to standard with the cleaning. It doesn’t take a lot to give it a bit of attention don’t expect rooms cleaned daily

Room was dusty as if it needed a good spring clean and on arrival there was sweaty wrappings on floor. Bathroom rails dusty and room was far to hot. Tried to turn heating down but the control knob was only placed on so it just lifted off. Sweltered all night.

Nice room in a friendly run pub. Loverly breakfast in the morning to start your day.
