The Firefly Resort

Really nice hotel locatated 15min ride from center of Semporna. Hotel yard was beautiful and room was spacious. Bed was good. Complimentary transportation to Semporna city center was good and communication with staff was easy.

Room curtains were really dirty full of black dirt. The sound of karaoke did hear in the room late night what was little disturbing.

What a joyful place to stay while surrounded by happy, helpful, kind staff prepared to go above and beyond to help you. It was a beautiful quiet location with free transport to town (20-25) mins depending on time of day and traffic if required. Clean and well equipped rooms with little extras like an umbrella. Town is not really in any way a place you need to go. You come to Semporna for the islands, snorkelling, scuba diving. If you go to wet market in Semporna around 4-6pm you can buy any seafood fish you like and bring it back and they will cook it for you. They suggest best ways and only charge you by kg around £6. You can’t dive in SipaDan unless you have an advanced diving certification. It’s approx £180 for day permit if you snorkel x 3 times or £200 for 3 x scuba dives all equipment included for either( you have to apply for this before you go, I would suggest at least a week, as they are limited to so many per day) . We did the snorkelling but it is expensive. I went scuba with Bug Fin ( highly recommend) 3 dives for £80 but this was on Mabel and another island and they were very good but what you see is not as good . Coral is best in SipaDan .

I would like their lovely minor bird to have a better place to stay. Also either a plunge pool or swimming pool pool then apart from island trips no need to go anywhere. Thankyou to all the staff especially songbird Karen.

Rooms were great. Restaurant was really good. Staff were friendly. Couldn’t fault the service.
