A great location in the centre of Bacharach

This review is for their annex building apartments, not the main hotel. The room itself is very nice, clean, large, well appointed and with some thoughtful appliances in the kitchen for use. Overall we would have loved our stay if not for the location.

Was this annex building bought before or after the functioning winery directly across the street from our room opened for business, who can say. And on paper, being in a hotel across from a winery sounds very charming. In truth, it was very noisy, from 8am to nearly 10pm at night. Generators, banging, a small tractor that made a loud backing up noise every couple of minutes, large tubs being tossed around, pressure washing, people yelling and going about their work… allll day. It is not, at all, in any way, relaxing. And what’s more, we could not open the windows because immediately the room would be filled with flies. If we were staying longer than one day we would have asked to move rooms but it felt like an enormous waste of our time to pack everything up and spend part of our one precious full day in Bacharach begging for a different room. It’s very possible that 350 days of the year outside of harvest season this room is very peaceful. I don’t know. And I don’t even blame the winery — they have work to do, and they need every hour of the day to do it. If you don’t use your room for rest in the day time maybe the noise won’t matter to you but if you are looking for a quiet stay I recommend that you make sure your room is in the actual hotel, not the apartments down the street.
