Lovely venue and location, very good facilities. The room is pretty dated and the balcony and stairs could do with being repainted. Bed is really comfy and the room is a very good size. The breakfast was very average considering a £20 cost per person. Too greases and the food wasn’t very high quality.

We had a lovely stay, all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The swimming pool was beautiful and the changing rooms clean and well equipped.

Bed was very soft, heard the neighbouring bathroom fan . . Very loud. Fridge was noisy.

Late check in, well looked after by night porter,he showed us the way to our rooms, which would have taken ages to find in the dark otherwise.

Lovely time will need to stay for two days next time to see everything.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, and look forward to returning. The staff were brilliant and welcoming.
8.0
Overall the building and the setting was nice, and the staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was spacious and clean.
Unfortunately there were a few things that really let us down for us:
1) The room was quite dated and in need of modernisation. There were no plug sockets anywhere near the bed, the only socket being for a lamp which was not a standard UK plug so it was not possible to charge a phone or anything else anywhere near the bed.
2) We booked this hotel in no small part because we intended to use the tennis courts - these were in very poor condition, one I would say was pretty much unplayable, the other we attempted to play on and slipped over twice. The surface was very worn and covered in moss making it slippery. This was in February, but it was a dry day and shouldn’t have been that slippery had the surface been in reasonable condition.
3) We didn’t use the spa, but we did use the pool which was also quite dated. The steam room and sauna were nice, but the pool was quite busy with children when we were there late Sunday afternoon. Given the marketing as a “spa” if that was the premise I had booked under I would have been disappointed. I noted there are “adult only” times but these were quite off peak times when you probably won’t be using the pool. The photos also suggest there is a hot tub/jacuzzi which it transpires is actually just a corner of the pool which jets so it is the same temperature as the pool and is not a hot tub.

Beautiful surroundings and such lovely staff. Rooms are a bit tired and I don't think, as a lone female traveller, I would stay in the room away from the main building. Next time I will try to say on a higher level near to the main building. All in all a good stay with fabulous staff.

Great location for the New Forest and Lymington with nice grounds and outdoor and indoor swimming pools.

We loved that to get to the Isle of Wight Ferry was 7 minute walk. The staff in all areas were good natured and helpful. the room was just lovely and in a wonderful setting and felt more like an apartment than just a room. Lovely quality fittings, bed very comfortable with feather pillows, white fluffy towels in the bathroom. Felt very luxurious and the breakfast - great choice served with a smile. our eve meal was very tasty. Can't fault this grand building with all amazing spa and pools and great accomamdtion. Will most certainly stay again.

Surprised my wife and must the staff were really helpful and friendly, the infrastructure is a little outdated but the service was spot on. Enjoyed every bit of it and will definitely be back.

Very quaint & traditional style, bar & restaurant could do with modernisation and revamp for younger clientele

Beautiful main building and wonderful grounds but in need of refurbishment. As this was a hotel stay we expected to be in the main building but all the hotel rooms are in lodges a short walk away - not good if it’s raining. Lovely staff who were very helpful.

Attractive, well-manicured grounds surround an impressive hotel frontage, with a large lawn leading down to the estuary and marina.
Regarding the accommodation I was surprised and disappointed to learn that my 'Super Deluxe' room was NOT in the hotel building but in a block of two-level apartments a short walk from the hotel - this was not mentioned anywhere at the time of booking, nor was the steep set of stairs leading to the top level I had been allocated.
The room itself ('1a') was well appointed, though the decor was somewhat dated and in need to attention e.g. evidence of flooding on the bathroom door and bath panel, missing fascia on the shower controls, as well as hanging cobwebs from the pendant light in the room. Also there was no guide to hotel facilities in the room.
Breakfast was adequate but not of the sophistication to match the hotel's image and room rates.
In summary, I enjoyed the Macdonald Elmers Court and would return after a refurb, despite my stay being not worth the money I was charged.
I recommend less focus on the fur coat, more on the knickers.

Lovely 2 night stay. Would return. Our room was a separate lodge which weren’t aware of befote. Very roomy . C out of of had a bigger tv on the wall plus fridge considering the size. Dinner was in the main hotel and breakfast was in the building where the gym was so not ideal when it was raining . Gym needs a makeover. Weren’t acknowledged and anyone could walk in. When I said we hadn’t been before, was just told to take a towel, when I asked where everything was , was told that way . Would be nice in good weather as also had an outdoor pool. Dinner was lovely but pricey . Isle of Wight ferry 5 mins walk away . Lymington town around half an hour walk. Would recommend overall

Ok, but not 4 star
Good things- nice outdoor pool, was a hot day so appreciated, although not heated. Nice comfy sun beds. Nice lady at check in, free parking, beautiful surroundings, breakfast nice
Not so good things - the hotel is meant to be 4 star but I would say it’s not. The room we stayed in was not clean, there was mould on the net curtains, the bed had stains on the mattress, the mattress is probably as old as the building. The topper was two singles on a king bed, and poorly fitted. The mattresses also have not been turned as recommended by the manufacturer. The room had dust behind the bed and on the lights. The coffee area in the room had coffee stains up the wall. There was enough supplies for one hot drink in the room.
Unfortunately it was one of the most uncomfortable nights I’ve had in a hotel! Not what I’d expect for nearly £200 per night. I did make a complaint in the morning to the manager, but really didn’t feel like anything would change, or like she actually cared.

We have stayed in many Macdonald hotels over the years but Elmers Court is not their usual standard. We had issues with the shower gel, loo rolls and tissues not being replaced in our room and the breakfast wasn`t great (very poor poached eggs) so we had breakfast elsewhere after the 2nd day. Overall the hotel seemed tired. This is a pity as the location is lovely and very convenient for many local attractions.

We were put in the annexe which is a large block of rooms outside the main house. Quite tired and very expensive for what you get. I felt like we were at Maplins from Hi-de-Hi.

Great hotel with lovely rooms. The staff was very friendly. The food was very nice. The spa was a great experience

Very tired and shabby hotel. Untrained young staff silly prices (£5.50 for a small coke)

We stayed in a deluxe family room which had an adjoining room with little bunk beds. Perfect for a family stay away. The swimming pool was great. The breakfast was lovely. The grounds and setting are beautiful. We’ll definitely stay again. Really good location too.

We booked a Saturday night to go to a wedding locally and we knew our room wouldn't be ready when we got there but when we asked if we could change somewhere, the staff were pretty unhelpful. We ended up changing in the toilets. The rooms were clean and spacious but breakfast was also disappointing. The senior staff member there was positively rude towards some people who tried to seat themselves and was stropping around the room so much we were afraid to ask for anything; lots of people had to clear plates from their own tables because they were just let pile up. Considering we paid over £300 for a room per night it was pretty poor value for money and far too expensive for what it was. Next time we'll get an Air B&B.

Room was lovely but bunk beds were too small for my two boys to sleep in. Think this should be stated on the room description.

The hotel and its facilities were excellent. The room was very comfortable. He food however was variable. We ate in the main restaurant one night and my flat-iron steak was almost inedible and resistant even to a sharp knife. Breakfast was fine but I think it is something of a cheek to charge extra for certain alternatives when the standard breakfast is quite expensive

A lovely property to stay in but the dining options let it down for us.
We arrived to be told that because if an event being held that the food options that evening were limited. It turned out that only a bar menu was available (even though they state that they have a restaurant, bar and Italian restaurant on site). Also we were given different times that the food would be available until by different members of staff.
It turns out that the main restaurant menu only has 1 vegetarian option on it for the whole week. So we ended up going to the local pub each evening.
Also a lot of the hotel information re the Spa etc relies on you having internet connection and the signal in the room was very unstable.
A lovely venue which for us was let down by the food service and lack of easily accessible information on how things worked onsite.

Very friendly receptionist, helpful and we were given a map and brochure of things to do. Nice old property with more modern large rooms. We had the deluxe and despite the Expedia description, we had no sofa but we did have two chairs and a kitchen.
The swimming pool was lovely but didn’t use the bar/restaurant as we used the shuttle train at Lymington Pier into town and to the Ship Inn for dinner. Highly recommend, you need to book.
Would stay again but not at the price we paid, is overpriced as it has a holiday resort feel not a hotel feel hence why we didn’t use the bar.

Enjoyable stay. Room clean, comfortable bed but a little dull in decor.
Breakfast good buffet style , staff efficient and welcoming .

Booked a suite for 4 people, the bunk beds are only 5 feet long. These were too small for my children. Ages are added before booking so this accomadation should not have been shown as an option as it is not suitable. We were given 2 camp beds but these were very uncomfortable and made the room too cramped. Not happy for the price I paid.

Food was overpriced and not the best quality. I wouldn't rate this as a 4* definitely more 3/2 attention to detail wasnt there when cleaning the room such as providing stained towels and bedding not emptying bins etc

Nice hotel, fantastic reception staff. Housekeeping not so good, pillows shabby - until Reception staff sorted it - tea bags and biscuits not refreshed! That having been said, room was clean.

This was the second time we have been and again thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
