To start with positives, the Staff were excellent, helpful & friendly. I have a walking stick and on checking in the Lady at reception insisted in carrying our bag to the room. Everywhere was very clean. We ate in the hotel both nights. The food was excellent, as was breakfast. However the room was very disappointing. Very small & cramped and the lighting very poor. I could barely see to shave in the en-suite. Despite the good breakfast (evening meals not included obviously) the price charged was too high considering the room. Some of the stairs leading to the rooms had no handrail, potential for a fall and again corridors had very poor lighting. None of this would be fault of the Staff. Despite the excellent quality of food & staff based on room, we would not stay there again.

We very much enjoyed a lovely one night stay at the Avoca. We had the most fantastic view from our room overlooking the sea and Mourne mountains.
The room was really nicely decorated, cosy and had a large comfy bed. Everything was very clean and well presented.
All the staff we came across were so friendly and welcoming.
The breakfast was also excellent - great choice and plentiful.
Overall a real gem of a stay and we will definitely be back!

Had a sea view room which was perfect. Could lie in bed and watch the waves. Lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Shower was great. Barry’s tea provided which was a nice touch.
Might not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility as lots of stairs/steps
