A lovely grand old building right in the middle of town, good parking. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the Olympic room is special.
It was a last minute stopover on our way home from Scotland and was just the job.
The hotel itself is great, lovely old features of grandeur gone by, the room/gratuities and breakfast itself however felt very 'Premier Inn' which was a little disappointing.

The location was excellent but hotel controlled parking was limited. The dining room was unusual with its wood panelling and the main feature of the hotel.
Our room on the second floor was small and the furniture was a poor quality eg the wardrobe and shelves were open fronted. There is no loft so lugging cases around was a struggle for us old folk. The breakfast options were not as good as their sister hotel in Harrogate and when we did manage to get poached eggs they were like squash balls!
