Downstairs bar, lounge and dining room were excellent. Location is perfect

Few problems in the room. Hand basin blocked and shower controls not great.

The hotel is beautiful inside and has been recently renovated. It has excellent proximity to the Royal golf course. Lovely views and good menu of drinks at the bar.

The staff were courteous but the waiting times for anything from service at the bar, to checking in, to being seated for a meal was very slow. The staff seemed under resourced and were reasonably polite but not friendly or trained in 5 star service or language. The food was tasty but overpriced for the quality and quantity. Our evening meal had rather a few too many fish bones and left us feeling slightly peckish after 3 courses each. A drink was dropped and smashed right next to our table during dinner service and it took 10 minutes for the glass and liquid to be properly cleared! In this time, waiters and guests had to skirt round the hazard. The rooms are beautiful but the TVs are old fashioned and don't have Netflix or other smart features. The hair dryer in particular has a button which must be pushed down and held in order for it to work! Felt more like a public leisure facility than a 5 star hotel.

The room was big and quite nice. Good location. Nice views.

Breakfast was disappointing - not a great selection. Fake drawers are an odd touch - lack of storage for clothes. Room cleaning was poor / didn’t happen - poor show considering it’s £35 a night for a dog due to the alleged extra cleaning required. Staff a bit absent upon check-in and at restaurant etc.
