Alfred Place

The staff so friendly. Cozy place in such a lively location.

Only issue was the room was next to the reception. There was bad smell from ac and ac water dripping was just next to room window.

We stayed for three nights of a nine week travel around India and other countries. Alfred Place exceeded our expectations as it was very fairly priced, but the value was better in our opinion. Location was good for our time in Cochin, we did some walking around the locale, but mainly used short journey tuk tuks, which were the most reasonably priced we experienced in India for a month. The room was very comfortable, air con very cool on such hot days, only criticism, would have liked a fridge in the room, minor but understand. Staff were super helpful in every way, nothing was too much trouble, room service was an added bonus as was the lovely pool, after a hot day exploring, an absolute delight to spend time in. The area of Fort Cochin is quite walkable, just remember sun screen and a hat. All in we would recomend Alfred place for a stay especially couples, a very nice and relaxing hideaway in a leafy street.

המקום כולו מלא צמחיה שופעת ומהממת והאיזור של הבריכה יפה ונעים. יש מיטות שיזוף ושמשיות. יש גם גן שעשועים קטן לילדים. החדר בעיצוב קצת מיושן (וילון גלילה מכוער ושטיחים ישנים) אבל נקי ומסודר ונעים בסה״כ. מיטה נוחה והרבה כריות. הצוות נחמד, תפריט ארוחת הערב במחירים טובים (כ250 רופי למנה) והאוכל מגיע במנות גדולות. כשמזמינים אוכל מהתפריט כדאי לשאול מראש כמה זמן זה יקח, כי הם מכינים הכל מאפס. וזה עלול לקחת 40 דקות. אני פשוט חיכיתי בחדר עד שהיה מוכן. המזגן בחדר חזק.

היו הרבה הפסקות חשמל רגעיות אבל זה משהו שקורה בכל הודו ולא יחודי למקום הזה. חלק מהצוות לא מבין כל כך אנגלית וקשה לתקשר איתם. אבל יש כמה שמדברים מצוין. בזמן ארוחת הבוקר/הערב הם לא כל כך באים לבדוק מה המצב בשולחן כך שאפשר להתקע הרבה זמן כשמחכים למלח או מפיות:) המלון ממוקדם קרוב למסגד כך שכמה פעמים ביום שומעים את המואזין קורא. ב4:30 בבוקר זה עשוי להעיר:) אבל חוזרים לישון אחר-כך. זרם המים במקלחת קצת חלש. אבל אפשר להסתדר. למצעים והמגבות יש ריח של מלבין. אמנם נקי, אבל לא מריח מדהים. יש הרבה נקודות לשיפור אבל סה״כ זה מלון במחיר מעולה והיה לי בו מאד נעים במשך 3 לילות.

The staff and caretakers are warm, hospitable and kind. They make the place extra comforting and warm after a long day of travel.

The facilities in our room were quite broken down and in need of repair: a broken toilet seat, that kept coming apart, an air conditioner that made a loud whining sound all day and night long, a bathroom where the water faucet and shower came down at a painfully slow dripping pace, and overall bathroom sink had stains and in need of care and oversight.
