Valverde Santar Hotel & SPA - Relais & Châteaux

This hotel is a hidden gem, gorgeous and literally bursting with history: it is literally like spending time in the country residence of an eccentric lord from the 19th century. The common areas and the bedrooms are both comfortable and cosy, more like a real home than a hotel. There are also quite a lot of rooms to explore, many decorated with valuable old objects and paintings, and a spa (that we did not have the time to visit). We had breakfast and lunch on the balcony (or loggia), and both were abundant and delicious, with plenty of attention to detail but, again, served more in the spirit of someone entertaining you at home than in the impersonal way of many hotels. The swimming pool and the gardens are gorgeous and provide plenty of space to relax or walk around. Obviously, the true stars are the staff, who were impeccably professional but also very relaxed and friendly.

There is nothing we did not like: true, as we were on the ground floor, we did not have much of a view, but on the other hand we had immediate access to the gardens and the swimming pool, and the bedroom was gorgeous anyway!

Do quarto super limpo e de bom tamanho. Banheiro enorme com 2 cubas, banheira, chuveiro e vazo separados

O quarto mínimo. Não me parece, também, razoável que num hotel de 5 estrelas o quarto não tenha um sofá confortável, apenas uma cadeira incómoda.
