insomnia KYOTO OIKE

The downstairs lounge was a highlight. There were books and board games available to use, the complimentary pastries were delicious, and the free drinks (including juice, tea and coffee) were great too. The hotel provided a free plastic bottle for each guest at check-in, which was handy for taking drinks back to the room. In short, the lounge basically saved us paying for breakfast every morning! The self-service check-in/check-out machine in the foyer was very convenient and offered currency exchange, which was particularly helpful for exchanging larger notes and getting coins for the laundry. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, and their English was quite good, which made communication easy. They were happy to store our luggage that had been forwarded ahead of us, and they also helped us arrange to forward our luggage to our next hotel via Yamato. The room was a decent size, and the overall stay was great value for money. Having a separate toilet and shower was a win and while the shower looked a little intimidating at first, with all its different dials and controls, once we figured out how everything worked it was great! The location was quiet even despite a new apartment building being constructed across the road at the time of our stay, and was walkable to sightseeing spots like Nijō Castle. Very close to Karasuma Oike train station.

Just a few small complaints. We found several clumps of long, shiny brown hair on the floor around the bedroom and toilet. None in my party has that type of hair (both of us have short light coloured hair) so it seemed the room may not have been cleaned thoroughly after the previous guests. The bed was quite hard, and only one pillow was provided per person, which was also quite firm. I wasn't a fan and struggled to sleep well but this is definitely a matter of personal preference. There was only one washer and one dryer available for guests, so it was very much a first-come, first-served situation. However, the hotel helpfully provides a little map showing the locations of nearby coin laundromats as an alternative.

Everything absolutely amazing, loved the lounge area next to the réception. If I come back to Kyoto, i'll definitely come back here. This hotel has everything you need and even more

Nothing

The property was clean and they had a lovely lobby where you can hang out and relax , they also offer free snacks and juices and the staff were very welcoming .

There was nothing bad in particular

Overall the room was clean. The comfortable beds. It was very affordable.

The fact that the air vents (one in the room and the other one in the bathroom)were very dusty made me give a lower score. It triggered me to think of how dirty the other areas were not clean.
