Nestled in a peaceful village along a clear river, this beautifully updated inn offers clean, comfortable rooms and warm hospitality, complete with delicious homemade breakfasts, packed lunches, and a kind owner who even gave us a ride to the local market. Tucked deep in the forest, the village pleasantly surprised us with exceptional local food and restaurants that far exceeded our expectations for a remote mountain spot. Perfectly located across from a main bus stop and right at the midpoint for hikers coming from Kii-Tanabe, it serves as a cozy, ideal refuge to rest and recharge before continuing the trail.

This was a perfect stop on the Kumano Kodo for the six of us. Ike, the owner, is super helpful, getting our shoes and clothes dried (there was a lot of rain on the trail!). The food was amazing, Ike's mother cooks and she used to be a cooking teacher so it was very authentic and delicious. It was lovely to eat with the other guests and chat with them. The rooms and facilities were great, the bus left from right outside and there was a little convenience store to get supplies.
The bed was a little soft, but that was about it! Everything was fabulous, and Ike was the most generous and helpful host. Chikatsuyu is a gorgeous little town as well :)

The host is extremely kind and entertaining. Dinner, breakfast and lunch were prepared by the host and his family and were absplutely delicious (be prepared for some local japanese delicacies!)
The spot is great for hikers on the Kumano Kodo.

Convenient location in Chikatsuyu just off trail and near bus stop. Comfortable, charming, traditional.
