Southend Airport budget room

The single room was as described - with TV, Wifi, a towel and toiletries. Didn't expect much more for the price. I booked because of the location to the airport, which was a 20min walk.

The house sits on quite a busy road, and room D was at the front, so there was a lot of noise, with evening and morning traffic. The shared bathroom needs a little TLC, and there was no light on the upstairs landing (missing a bulb).

A couple of the people staying there were friendly!

The bed was absolutely awful. The mattress was badly worn and slanted on one side, so you constantly felt like you were rolling out of bed. To make matters worse, there were bed bugs, which made the stay completely unacceptable and unhygienic. I also noticed there was another room available just around the corner from this property. I asked if I could upgrade my booking and simply pay the difference in price, but this was completely refused. Instead, I was told I would have to make an entirely new booking and pay the full amount again, which was very disappointing and showed no willingness to help resolve the situation.

Awful

I had other guest making such loud noise it was awful

Shocking

Close to airport

Dangerous . Unable to park to unload as old car blocking drive and would need to reverse but road very busy. Dreary. Lounge and kitchen quite cosy. A person had taken over in next room to me with the door open and the bathroom door open so was unable to use the toilet. There was a cable running from the room next door to the bathroom with both doors open. There was a cupboard downstairs with a toilet in it but no label on door. Main bathroom dirty and person left water all over floor. Text and telephoned landlord about the behaviour of the room person next door. I was in room d. He totally ignored my concern I am a single woman of 68 fully experienced in solo travel around the world. There were no staff no security lighting and no cameras no passport checks. Anyone could bring as many people as they wanted in those rooms. It’s just disaster waiting to happen. The owner assured me he has had no problems in 20 years. I left the place at 11.30 pm I could not stay there it was terrifying. He didn’t reply to my text today only interested in taking the money and not giving any service whatsoever. I have now read other reviews and I agree it was a terrible experience. Booking . Com should remove it from its listing and inspections should be made there as to the types of guests it’s taking in.

It was very good for the price, room a little small but no real complaints , never saw owners

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The check in and out process was really easier and the replies were very prompt from the property.

The bathroom wasn't that clean, not sure when the shower curtain was last washed. The room next door and the neighbours in the house over were loud into the early hours of the morning, though it was a bit better on the second night I stayed. Definitely wouldn't recommend for those that need an early morning.
