Madilao Hotel

Great hotel just outside the centre, however this provided a more relaxing and quiet experience. There is a free shuttle bus to the centre (however only a few times a day) and free bikes to loan. Otherwise it was a manageable walk for me (~30mins). Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool and gym were great! Room was modern, spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good- a mix of western and Asian foods and either a buffet or à la carte.

Good buffet breakfast and helpful staff throughout all areas of the hotel. Lovely grounds well maintained. Road outside the hotel is on the route of the monks on their early morning alms collection (6am)- no need to go into the town centre. Free daily shuttle service to / from the Night market. Rooms serviced daily.

Problem with ventilation in the bedrooms and large gaps under doors - meant that the tobacco fumes of smokers next door kept filling my room nightly. Also a leak in the bathroom sink plumbing meant my floor was flooded daily. Insistence of restaurant staff for guests to pay in cash and no charging to rooms permitted. Unfortunately the location of the hotel is outside the town centre and not within the range where tour companies are willing to pick up from - it meant for several of my excursions I had to take a taxi to a location within the pick up zone which added additional costs to my visit to Luang Prabang.

Tutto.

Great value and for value it was beyond belief. Top class all around. The staff, paticularly Somsak were charming and really helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
