The beds are too low and hard to get up for older clients.

I would definitely stay at Hop Inn again. We had a twin tatami room and the mattresses were so comfortable. The room was just big enough for two of us - I would say it was larger than the average Japanese hotel room. We could both open two suitcases at the same time. It might be tricky with more than 3 bags.
We were able to extend our check-out by a few hours for about $10, which was well worth it. The free amenities in the lobby were great. There's also lots of seating in the lobby. There are several convenience stores nearby so finding food is easy.
The best part about the room was the air conditioning/heating unit, which was fully controllable. You can have the room as hot or as icy cold as you want it. We were always extremely comfortable.
It really is just a 2 minute walk from the temple. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the train station, so it's not difficult to navigate even with several suitcases. It was mostly quiet. Cleaning is every 3 days but you can have your trash emptied daily, and fresh towels whenever you want them are available at the front desk.
