Numa Brighton Pavilion

The hotel was very conveniently located in the North Laines area of Brighton, a block away from the Royal Pavilion and 10 minutes walk from the railway station. It is a large modern hotel, the room was spacious , the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchenette was excellent. The room was air conditioned, great during the heat wave, and wifi worked fine. All this said, this hotel chain seems to pride itself on using digital technologies and apps, and not having a reception. The checking in process was awful, requiring me to do an on-line check in and for info on two persons including photographic ID even though I was travelling solo. I tried calling the emergency helpline several times but it was never answered. Fortunately, there was a person at the entrance area when I arrived who was very helpful and resolved all my arrival issues, though only works approx 9-5pm. I would have had problems if checking in during the evening. I never figured out the App and never knew how to use the remote for the TV.

Check in is online and painful including the need to upload ID for all guests, and installing the app. The hotel and room PIN Is sent ahead of time and works well. The room is functional and comfortable, everything you need for a stay. Bathroom well appointed with a great shower. Breakfast in the cafe next door with good menu choices. On site staff super helpful, even though it is all supposed to be online. Parking in Brighton is difficult and expensive so see if you can sort it out before you arrive, again on site staff were super helpful.

Different kind of concept for us as this was a hotel stay without a manned reception desk and all check in was done remotely through the Numa app. Excellent all round. Access PIN and room number was sent through on the morning of arrival. Room was lovely, spacious and modern. Had almost an IKEA vibe. I found the bed and bedding really comfy but hubby not so much. No noise from outside. Loved the idea that the cleaner wouldn't be in every day had we been staying longer than a couple of days. Towels, toilet paper, extra tea/coffee etc could be obtained from the essentials cupboard in the reception area. Couldn't fault anything except there were no usb charging points in the room. It was a good job we took a plotherwise it would have been an issue.
