Location! Location is essential for me. Right next to the popular walking street in Otaru. Includes a parking lot. My unit is street level. Meaning direct access. Luggage no issue. Place is exceptionally well maintained and super clean. Host provided so much amenities! Im really impressed.
You have to walk up and down a rather steep slope to access the main street but otherwise all good. I walked up and down ONCE in my 2 nights stay. The rest of the time we drive and park elsewhere. The pillows abit too flat for my personal liking. There are more to love than dislikes.

Spacious, liked the sliding door that separated the sleeping area from the living quarters, very pleasant balcony , good lighting and table for eating. Nice homey touch. The shower had good pressure well-lit bathroom area with amenities
Easy walking to the old center, shops, restaurants and the canal
