4 Bedroom 4 Bath lakefront retreat right in the center of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes available for weekly or longer term rental.
Our cottage is twelve minutes from a general store in Greenfield and within three quarters of an hour to Kejimkujik National Park, Bridgewater, Liverpool, or Mahone Bay. Annapolis Royal, Digby, Peggy's Cove and Halifax are likewise day trips just a bit further afield.
That said why leave the house?
Our cottage has everything you could possibly need from a wood stove and air conditioning, to plush linens and whirlpool bath, from an air fryer and full spice cabinet; to three kayaks, three canoes, and a pair of stand up paddle boards to boot. Stroll among the many rock gardens on the property or just relax in the sunshine on either of the two decks. There is fiber internet with mesh WiFi, a smart TV and surround sound receiver for your media device, and game consoles for kids, but better to forgo all that and rather spend the day fishing on the lake and then pluck one of the many good reads available on the shelves.
There is no smoking in the cottage and there can be no loud noise after 10 pm outside on the deck. The next door neighbor is our caretaker and friend. Please be respectful of him and everyone else on Salmon Bay.
By renting the cottage, tenants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owner for any liability or damages that occur with respect to the property and the watercraft thereon.
14% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST/GST) & 3% South Shore Tourist Tax will be assessed during booking.

Spacious and comfortable. Beautiful lake views from large deck livingroom and dining room.Kitchen has everything we needed to cook and serve 8 of us.We loved being on the lake in kayaks, canoe, and paddle board. Glad we wore our river shoes.House allows for gathering together as weell as having private time iin lovely spaces.

What an amazing property and location! We alternated between "stay at home" days and all-day "excursions" to the far reaches of lower Nova Scotia. Lunenburg, Liverpool, Wolfville, Annapolis Royal, Digby, and Long Island are all within 2.5 hours drive on mostly-empty roads. Only saw two RCMPs in 13 days, so very little speed limit enforcement. Hit the NSLC Signature stores in Bridgewater, Liverpool, or Lunenburg for the best wines. The house is well equipped for cooking and we did just that on most days. We found the butcher shop and Soeby's in Bridgewater had the meats, fish, and produce that we needed. The house has a brand-new set of 12 steak knives from Canadian Tire.

Our family of 6 stayed here for a week. We used the house as both a place to relax and as a jumping off point to do other activities in Nova Scotia. We loved it here. We enjoyed numerous outings on Ponhook Lake in the canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboard provided by the owner. The house is beautiful, clean and very well kept up. The location is stunning, with the beautiful Ponhook lake in a wilderness setting with endless opportunities for exploration. A perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy the wild beauty of the Nova Scotia country as well make day trips to other places such as Halifax, Lunenburg, or Kejimkujik. Scott, the owner, sent us a very thorough document with all the information we needed to get into the house and enjoy ourselves. He also included information about the area, which was very helpful to planning our trip. Lovely house, wonderful hosts-we can’t recommend this house enough!

In the run up to hurricane Dorian Scott was very proactive and suggested we might like to go to the cottage a day early to avoid travelling during the storm. We were very pleased to accept his offer. We also filled the bath with water prior to the storm as he suggested, which was to work well for us. On the morning of the storm power to the cottage was lost and remained out for the rest of our stay. Unfortunately this also meant no running water and access to the bedrooms in the basement was pretty much out of the question as they were very dark. We were able to repair a generator we found in the garage and managed to keep the refrigerator going for the 6 days of our stay. We were disappointed that the generator could not be plugged into the main electricity consumer unit for the property as this would have solved most of our problems and we would strongly recommend this be provisioned going forward.
Whilst we enjoyed the location, bathing in the lake and heating water on the wood burning stove ceased to be a novelty after 6 days and we retreated to a hotel in Halifax where we could enjoy more modern conveniences.
