About the condo

Enjoy an ocean-view stay at Makahuena Resort in Poipu. This two-bedroom, split-level condo accommodates up to six guests and features a covered lanai overlooking the ocean and resort pool. Just beyond the lanai is Makahuena’s distinctive double-colored plumeria tree.

When the surf is up, watch waves crash against the shoreline rocks and surge high into the air—a memorable sight from the lanai. In winter, you may spot humpback whales offshore, and dolphins are occasionally seen throughout the year. The lanai also has outdoor dining, making it a lovely place for morning coffee or a meal with family and friends.


The space

Upstairs, two bedroom suites each offer an ocean view and a private bathroom. One has a king bed and the other a queen bed. The living room sofa bed provides additional sleeping space.

The full kitchen features quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances. Contemporary furnishings balance comfort and style. Air conditioning is available in the living area and both bedrooms. All windows throughout the condo, including those in both bedrooms, were replaced in December 2024.


Resort amenities and nearby attractions

The resort’s shared amenities include an ocean-view swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis court. Poipu, Brennecke’s, and Shipwreck beaches are nearby. Beach and ocean conditions vary, so check local conditions before swimming or entering the water.

We provide beach towels, chairs, an umbrella, cooler bags, boogie boards, sand toys, and a collapsible beach cart. The nearby coastal trail leads toward the Mahaʻulepu Heritage Trail, with views of Shipwreck Beach and the coastline.

Brennecke’s Deli and Beach Broiler, Poipu Shopping Village, The Shops at Kukuiʻula, and historic Old Koloa Town are a short drive away. Waimea Canyon and Kauai’s North Shore make rewarding day trips; allow extra time for the island’s winding roads.


Amenities and supplies

Enjoy custom-roasted Kauai coffee, Wi-Fi, and an in-unit washer and dryer. We provide a full set of towels and a starter supply of essentials, including three rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, laundry detergent, paper towels, tissues, and trash bags. These supplies are intended to get you started during the first few days of your stay.

Please note

The condo is on the third floor, and the building does not have an elevator. From the parking area, you’ll walk down approximately 20–30 steps to the building, then climb about 2.5 flights—or approximately 26 steps—to the unit. Handrails are available on all stairways, including those inside the condo. Both bedrooms are upstairs.

Parking at Makahuena is free, open, and unassigned for up to two vehicles. Please complete the parking registration form provided in the condo and place it on your dashboard. If the form is missing, write your name and condo number on a piece of paper and display it on the dashboard. Please also display the provided parking pass while parked.
