Snead Island is surrounded by the Manatee River & Tampa Bay & connected to the city of Palmetto by a small bridge. Fish for sea bass, snapper, snook & grouper in the river as well as in the Tampa Bay & Gulf of Mexico.
This adorable Snead Island cottage is nestled on 2 beautiful acres of majestic oaks, orange trees & coconut palms at the opening of the Tampa Bay. The front yard has beautiful southern Oak trees and looks out at a beautiful horse ranch. Walking out your back door, continue down the drive 250 ft onto a 100 ft dock to lounge, watch for dolphins and enjoy the sun setting on the Manatee River. Newly furnished with very clean & comfortable bedrooms, living room, dining room, newly remodeled full kitchen with granite counters, attached laundry room & a screened, enclosed veranda. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and back entrance is wheelchair accessible. Tie up at the 100 ft dock for small boats. Just to the right of the dock, is a small private Tiki and white sand beach, for swimming, kayaking or just relaxing in the lounge chairs.
The outside world of shopping, grocery stores, malls & waterfront restaurants are all within a 15 minute drive.
Beautiful 365 acre Emerson Point Preserve Beach Park is withing walking or bike riding distance on the island. There are bike trails, nature & birding trails, a canoe & kayak launch, white sandy beaches for swimming, fishing, picnic tables, barbecues, restrooms and a tower climb for an incredible view of the sunshine skyway bridge and Gulf of America. Pets on leashes are welcome in the park and on the beach for swimming. A great place to unwind and feel like you've stepped back in time.
Visit Sarasota cultural center, world renowned St. Armand's Circle; less than 1/2 hour to St. Petersburg and the retail shops at Bay Walk; under an hour to the excitement of downtown Tampa: or 1.5 hours to Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal and MGM Studios. Seafood festivals and many other fun activities happen weekly in Palmetto and just across the bridge in Bradenton.

Overall, we loved Bev's place by the water. Great water access for boating, swimming, fishing, and wildlife watching, plus a comfortable place to stay. We also enjoyed the Bradenton area for shopping, eating, and local color. The only thing I would add is that this house is not directly on the water; it is behind a "main house" on the property, which the pictures do not show. We didn't mind, as it's a short walk around to the river. But I feel the listing isn't clear about there being an obstructed view. Otherwise, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, the lot is huge and peaceful, and the dolphins do in fact swim by most afternoons, as advertised. Would love to go back sometime.

This place is truly a gem! The home was more spacious than the photos appear. It was very clean, welcoming and relaxing. The pier and tiki were exactly as described and alot of fun for the kids! We were able to enjoy fishing, watching dolphins and even witnessed a manatee up close! The front porchis screened in with outdoor furniture for relaxing outside. There were plenty of towels, blankets and extras stocked and the kitchen had all of the basics needed. The home is pet friendly but we didn't smell or see any indications of pets from previous renters. During our check-in, I reached out with questions and the host was super sweet and responsive. She even offered suggestions to nearby places to help out us out of towners.

Accurate listing and perfect location! The private beach and tiki and dock are amazing. Lovely little cottage in a great location! Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, we had several issues with this tired property, The home owners who live on the property tried to remedy the situation unfortunately we had to leave 5 days ahead of our scheduled departure. They were nice enough to refund us. The Tiki bar was nice and shared with several friendly renters. The dock was nice but unfortunately so many dock lines and full slips made it difficult to fish off of. FYI no dishwasher. My mistake for not catching it on listing.
