Bukchon Binkwan by Rakkojae

This small hotel in a historic hanok in a unique Seoul neighborhood is one of a kind. It has quirks because it's in a 1920s building and true to it's time, ie no TV, not a lot of charging outlets. But for anyone interested in historic Seoul or what it's like to live in a beautiful, traditional Korean house with a glorious wood interior -- shoes stay outside the front sliding door -- it doesn't get better than this. The serenity was enveloping. It was an almost spa-like experience. I highly recommend the Korean breakfast. The makerel in oil was excellent as were the dried beef, seaweed soup, kimchi, white rice and apple slices in yogurt. I chose a room with floor sleeping because I wanted the experience, and though I wouldn't want it every night, I slept well and awoke refreshed. The service was superb. I read for a while in the garden before checking out; Anastasia, who had made the breakfast, appeared and asked if I'd like an Americano. It was a beautiful, early fall day, the city view was quietly breathtaking, and the coffee was delicious -- just like my visit.

There could have been more hot water in the shower.

The owner was kind and helpful. She made us a gluten free meal, araranged for us hanbok cloth and made the hair for us. Then she enabled us to take pictures in the living room area and the roof from which you see namsam tower. The room is special a d viewed are great. Also very close to the palace and I was seek and she made me special soup and tea… great place to stay!!!

Not realy a problem - it is up the hill, you get the views.. but you have to climb…

北村に中にあり、韓屋の雰囲気がとても良かった!! 静かなロケーションで景色もよく設備も不備なく快適だった! 床暖房がソウルの寒い冬に適していて不自由なかった。 最寄り駅やバス停やコンビニも近くて便利!! 朝ごはんは手作り感があり、とても美味しかった!!!

部屋にテレビがない、音楽プレーヤーがない、 レクリエーションがないので部屋に帰ってもすることがなく ちょっと寂しかった。 そういう面でちょっと割高感があった。
