Location is 35 min drive to Nagano on a windy but very manageable road. It's very secluded in the middle of the forest with no phone reception (excellent wifi available). Very peaceful and quiet but a bit spooky at night so may not be for everyone. We even saw a monkey casually strolling past the house which was an amusing novelty for us. Rental car was fantastic. It allowed us to explore areas we wouldn't have had access to otherwise. Easy pick up and drop off. The cabin was very cozy and atmospheric. It was well furnished and comfortable. The washing machine and dryer were very handy for us, too. Laundry detergent was provided, as well as a good selection of toiletries. Some basics for cooking were also provided (oil, salt, soy sauce, etc.) and the kitchen was well equipped with both crockery and appliances.

As much as I appreciate the challenges that come with keeping such a remote cabin clean, it would benefit from a good scrub. There were lots of cobwebs and dead bugs inside and the was fungal growth on the couch cushions. There was only enough coffee for two mugs so make sure to stock up. You can bring beans as there's a grinder and a drip coffee maker. No tea was provided. The wood burner seems to be faulty. We're very experienced with wood burners as we commonly use them as main source of heating in NZ, yet we couldn't get this one going. We even checked the instructions but still couldn't work it. Smoke was pouring out from the front which suggests it isn't sealed well. The cabin was cold as there was no other source of heating. Lastly, the comms with the host were poor. We received the automated instructions for check in and check out and these were deatiled and clear but our message to the host was left unanswered. Luckily, we didn't have any issues (other than the wood burner) that required urgent assistance. There's no shelving/storage to unpack.

Nous avons tout aimé dans ce logement. C’est une cabane isolée dans la montagne proche de Nagano, la voiture prêtée nous a permis de nous y rendre très facilement. La cabane est propre, vaste. Elle offre deux belles chambres et une pièce de vie équipée de canapés, fauteuils, siège massant , piano électrique et même un petit livre de contes en japonais/anglais/francais L’ensemble est de style rustique, japonais, la literie occidentale. La cuisine est bien équipée et propre (grill, micro onde, frigo, gaz, cuiseur riz…) la vaisselle est belle, adaptée au lieu. Il y a même une petite pièce annexe pour se retirer et lire au calme. Nous ne sous sommes pas servi du sauna ni du bain froid. Il a fait de gros orage, vent et forte pluie lors de notre séjour, nous nous sommes sentis tellement bien dans le chalet.

Nous étions 4 et le bar pour manger ne dispose que de deux sièges hauts. C’est notre seul regret sur ce logement.

Recommend making the first drive up the hill from Nanago in daylight, not in dark misty night.
