The Ostrich Inn, South Creake, Norfolk

Booked hotel as advertised dog friendly, you had to email to ensure they could accommodate. Owner contacted me to say it was fine. When we arrived there she informed us that the 3 dog friendly cottage’s they had were booked but she had sorted a room for us and put a blanket and treats there for our dog. Was really impressed that even though they didn’t have a cottage available they put themselves out to ensure we could bring our pet. Our room was decorated really well and spotlessly clean, bed and pillows really comfortable. First night we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and booked a table when we checked in. So glad we did as it is a very popular restaurant and was very busy. Our food was superb, between us we had haddock, scampi and fish pie. If I want to be picky I would say I didn’t enjoy the thin cut fries with the scampi, but that’s a personal choice no reflection on the restaurant. The summer pudding for dessert was amazing. Breakfast had cereals and yogurts set out but you then ordered your breakfast which was then prepared. There was an extensive choice for breakfast, the first morning we all had the full English which was tasty, next day two of us had the pancakes, streaky bacon and maple syrup, delicious. The other member of the party had smashed avocado on sourdough, so much we had to help them finish it 😋 Parking is just behind the hotel and there were ample spaces. Every member of staff we had contact with were so friendly and nothing was too much to ask. Truely a wonderful example of customer service.

I really could not fault the place, it was a last minute booking and we could not believe how lucky we were to find such a gem.

Breakfast and Breakfast staff fantastic, location ideal for ourselves, room was nice, bar staff and front of house professional.

Evening meal food, probably the worst we have ever had, Mr Grumpy in the open kitchen just wanted to get finished and the presentation of food and taste were way below expectations.

Excellent meals, friendly staff, warm atmosphere and perfect location for exploring the local area.

We were greeted by a friendly member of staff. She grabbed a bottle of water and some fresh milk which she put in a small fridge. The decor was pleasant and we liked the shower, which had safe flooring and a sensible shower head. The room was well maintained and equipped. We had dinner, and again, service was good. The food lived up to expectations. Similarly with breakfast, a good menu. We were in the area to attend a funeral and the smooth running of the Ostrich helped the experience more manageable.

The music from the bar was a bit intrusive.
