There are some lovely routes to explore in and around the village, including to The Howk, where you’ll find pretty waterfalls and the ruins of an old bobbin mill. You’ll also be perfectly placed for long-distance Cumbria Way passes close to the village. The vibrant Lakeland towns of Cockermouth and Keswick are within 17 miles, both offering a good range of independent shops, pubs, and restaurants. The beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake is 9 miles away. There are some fantastic family attractions nearby, including Go Ape in Whinlatter Forest (19 miles) and the Lake District Wildlife Park (9.5 miles).

Come together in the cosy lounge/diner to plan the next day’s adventures in the glow of the wood burner, or retreat to the stylish snug to read a book or watch the Smart TV under the beamed ceiling. This room also has a warming wood burner for those chilly winter’s nights.
