Good location for Kings Cross but the building and apartment need some work !
The location was great geographically but the street was a mess with rubbish all over the roads outside and sirens all hours of the day and night due to being by the busy road / train station.
The building was a tired social housing block that was being re clad during our stay and had scaffolding around the whole place. It was very odd being on the 3rd floor and having direct access in to the apartment via all of the windows from the scaffolding and every time you touched the outside of the place, you got fibreglass insulation on yourself. The flat itself is a tired old flat that needs updating but was clean enough and had ample beds for our guests and towels which was nice. There is a very small kitchen with way too much stuff in it, a sofa that makes it hard to walk around and access the kitchen, awkward cupboard and hard to locate architrave light switches. The tumble drier was full and on hot when we arrived and you couldnt open it due to other furniture being in the way when we arrived. It was so hot we just turned it off for safety when we went out. It made me suspicious that the host would return during our stay which is not cool at all when we had all of our stuff there but saying that each room did have a lock and key provided. Everything desperately needs re decorating and the bathrooms had both seen much better days. We had music blasting at 4pm when we got in from a neighbour until 5 when we went out. We did mention it but the host said they had been to the apartment and it was quiet again later in the day. At 1.15am when we returned there was still music coming from a neighbour but luckily nowehere near as loud as the afternoon. Also the door only has a single latch lock which in a big city i would expect perhaps additional locks or a deadbolt at least, as a swift shoulder barge would allow access pretty easily. Ultimately it suited our needs, but we wont be rushing back.
