Enjoy the delights of Thornthwaite village, where you’ll find an art gallery and a tearoom with homemade treats, while Bassenthwaite Lake Viewing Point is just 2 miles away. Follow the footpath from the village up to Comb Beck and Whinlatter Forest, which has abundant walks, mountain bike trails, and treetop adventures. Discover the Georgian town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth (11 miles), and Keswick (3.5 miles), nicknamed the adventure capital of the Lake District. Meet meerkats, lemurs and red pandas at the Lake District Wildlife Park in Bassenthwaite (6 miles), or uncover the Senhouse Roman Museum in coastal Maryport (17.5 miles).
