Hotel Amari

The staff were very helpful and allowed us to store our bags before and after our stay. The room was a good size and clean and the bed were very comfortable. The location was excellent - very close to Union Square and the Powell St cable car, and walking distance to Fisherman's wharf, Lombard St and Coit tower - if you're happy to walk a few kms. Would stay there again - good value for money, and close to lots of really good restaurants. Highly recommend.

It is an old building that is starting to show it's age, but well maintained for all that. We asked for a quiet room - and it would have been if we were able to keep the window closed - but as it has no air conditioning and it was hot in the room we slept with the window open, which meant we could hear someone else's air conditioning unit on the building next door all night and lots of traffic noise/sirens etc. However, ear plugs solved most of this issue!

Clean room and excellent daily cleaning. Close to public transport but without hearing any bells or rail noises.

1. Very sticky floor in the room and no slippers provided 2. Bedside lights turn-off only from the main switchers, so each time you have to stand up to swith on/off the lights. 3. Worst view (in my experience) from the window - just the next building's window. However, as I felt there were bunch of other free rooms. 4. I've asked for the hairdryer, which they had so many in reception - so no problem here. However! The plug was EU one. Why would you give such one to visitors of your hotel, if all the sockets in the rooms are american, and the adapter doesn't come with it. 5. Safety deposit (which btw I'm still waiting post the promised return deadline) is compulsory to be made from credit card, which is not mentioned anywhere during booking. I've always made that transaction from my debit card all around the world and no problem, but here they insist it has to be credit card (and of course cash is not allowed, which is whole another problem).
