Spacious clean room, very comfortable bed and free parking on-site.

The check in was not that smooth as the reception was at the bar while there was a party going on with loud music. The loud music was playing until late around twelve o'clock and you could hear people in front of the hotel talking and screaming. When the party was over drunk people were passing by the room being very vocal.

The rooms were stunning. Deep bath Hot water and great staff. Loved the old traditional local pub downstairs and the unpretentious atmosphere. Very relaxed . Very nice and we will be back. Just a small thing that could have improved the stay would be the supply of some foam ear plugs for those who are light sleepers .

Super friendly staff, they couldn’t do enough for us. Room clean and comfortable. As we were attending a party we didn’t use the venue but it looked like a popular place, live music etc. would recommend

The hotel is in really good location close to Beamish Museum and the Angel of the North. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the beds are comfortable. We had a huge bedroom for the two of us, as the double rooms were all fully booked for the weekend, very comfortable, lots of hot water. We had dinner in the hotel, which had a plain and well cooked menu, which we enjoyed. We were a bit worried that it would be noisy in the rooms, as they have live music or a DJ in the bar, but actually the rooms were very quiet.

There wasn't much choice of drinks in the bar!

The entrance was through a noisy busy bar but was fine when you got to the rooms. The bedding and duvet felt cheap and slightly uncomfortable but might just have been me.

Location was reasonable - a little far out of the centre.

Why would a hotel have a built in karaoke bar? Reception was literally in the middle of it so no reasonable conversation possible.Don't they want guests to sleep? No signs outside regarding where to park, so you turn up to a noisy bar, no answer to phone calls either, place is a maze, bathroom is hanging off the wall, breakfast is served late on a Saturday so we couldn't even eat before we left. Staff member we met was very friendly but didn't seem to understand we had good reason to be disappointed at the loud noise and wanted to be left in peace

Staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They went out of their way to assist. We were there for the GNR and they generously gave lifts to participants and supporters. Food was great. Room was clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend.

was expensive but it was the event (great north run) that bumps up the price. they more than made up for it with a free breakfast, free ice creams for the kids and being really friendly.

Room was decorated nicely. Lots of space. Tea and biscuits in good supply.

Could not have the window open as the smoking shelter was below the room and smell and smoke came into room. Woudl suggest moving the shelter around the side away from windows for non-smoking rooms.

Had to walk through noisy crowded party goers to access room.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful throughout the stay even the cleaners in the morning when the chef had not tuned up for the shift.

The chef had not turned up for the shift and due to this the breakfast was delayed even though this had been booked the night before with an allocated time.
