The bedroom carpet is disgusting and needs to be replaced asap. The dishes in the kitchen cabinets were dirty. And worst of all, the mattresses and bedding are as bad and uncomfortable as they come. These are common issues at Sand Cay. With a small budget, these units could be improved upon tremendously, but for now it's kind of hit or miss. This unit does have a great view though!

The views from the beachside patios are gorgeous. We sat for hours some mornings just enjoying the view and breeze. The location of the resort puts you 15 minutes from Anna Maria or Sarasota. Had fun shelling on Lido Beach and shark panning on Venice Beach. The condo unit we rented needed updating. The carpet is black in areas of the bedroom which is disgusting. The unit itself smelled musty all the time. Not sure if a leak had not been taken care of properly or if it was the air conditioning unit. Couldn't pinpoint. The furniture in the living room is old and had several crusty food stains on them as well as had no support. Sitting and sleeping comfortably unfortunately was not afforded us on this stay. They did provide Beach equipment and ample towels etc. The kitchen was nice and the patio furniture. We will plan another trip to this resort but will make sure to choose a different unit. Cost is different for each unit and out of the resorts control. This unit, 3was high for the quality and comfort of unit.

Condo was very clean. The direct view of the beach was beautiful. The chairs at the pool and on the beach was great! Loved having access to the grill. Management was extremely friendly and helpful. It was nice to have access to free laundry machines. The only thing we were left wanting was a slow cooker or crockpot in the room to have meals ready after a long day on the beach, but that is just a personal preference. Definitely will be recommending and returning!

The 2 TVs are so old that you can not get a full picture on them (tried all settings) Bedroom TV does not have a HD box so only get a few channels and only aspect ratio leaves part of the picture cut off. Main TV has only one HDMI input so have to switch cable every time you use a streaming device. Patio doors sticks so bad at times it almost doesn't open. Shower door is too short so water runs out at bottom so have to keep towel there all the time.

Unit 316 is a great property. Fantastic view! Very clean and updated kitchen. Wonderful beach. Publix grocery is a short drive. Only a few issues... the dishwasher is older and does not work well. There is carpet in the bedrooms. It is clean but older. It would be better to have tile all the way through the unit. There is also NO washer / dryer in the unit. There are common ones in the office building, but not convenient for a month stay. Overall had a great time!

This resort is very nice - we stayed in Unit 316 and there were both positives and negatives to it. Positives: Awesome view of the gulf, brand new appliances in the unit, Spacious. Negatives - the guest bedroom bed was very uncomfortable...you sank right into the middle of the mattress, no support at all. Thankfully my 16 year old slept here but he still woke up with backaches because of it. The carpet in the master bedroom really could stand a good cleaning or being replaced (for the money spent to rent the unit during holidays), a lot of dirt marks and the floor in the master bedroom must have some loose boards as it makes a lot of noise and I felt bad for the folks staying below us. The unit also did not have any baking pans such as cookie sheets etc so we did not have any of these for the duration of our stay. We did ask the front desk and they were very nice about it but unfortunately due to being booked completely they were not able to procure any from another unit. Also for wine drinkers - bring your own corkscrew - the one in the unit is not very user friendly. The office personnel were super friendly - the resort is beautiful and a great location. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay here - I just think the owners could stand to update this unit and make some improvements to it.

The unit was great for our vacation, the only problem we had was with the A/C. It never got below 78 during the day. I know it’s a very hot time but there’s a problem with it. We will stay at sand cay again but rent another unit due to the AC problems all week.

However, not room 316. 316 had an odd TV to couch situation. The TV was about 15 feet away from the couch. The couch was not set up in a way to watch TV. Not crazy about that. Our family rents lots of other units, and 316 seemed to have the most outdated TV/entertainment arrangement.

Upon arrival our keys were not in the dropbox. We arrived about 7:00 PM and had to wait until almost 10:00 PM to get in our room. We were offered a $100 gift card but since the room was closer to $300/night this didn't seem fair for the trouble we had. The procedure for reaching staff at Sand Cay could benefit from a review for future issues.

The room itself was very dated and seemed somewhat dirty. This condition reflects very poorly on Sand Cay. A standard for all units should be considered.

This unit was in very poor shape. It looks like the owner hasn't updated in decades and is not overly concerned with the renters of his unit.

It was adequate, but so was my dorm room in college. Please make sure all units are up to a certain standard before allowing them to be rented.
