Tranquil location overlooking the mountains. On the quieter side of the Lake District away from the packed Ambleside / Windermere Lake. Excellent location for walking with all the main peaks within easy reach. The upsidedown cottage took advantage of the views. Easy access to Cockermouth for shopping.
There is only one bathroom (but we knew that when booked). The toilet cistern needs fixing as does not refill and flush effectively. Parking is tight with 3 parallel rows at the back by the shared small garden area. Fortunately we brought a small hatchback. Not helped by no.1 bringing 3 cars parked at the entrance. Heating is by electric night storage heaters. It was cold when we arrived and then too hot when switched on.

Comfortable cottage for 4 people, ate in all week and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Lovely village and walks from the door or a short drive away. Excellent pub 15 mins walk away.
The washer wasn't working. An engineer was sent out quickly but unable to fix it. Offered a discount which was acceptable.

Beautiful location, lovely house with living room upstairs for good views along Lorton Vale . But view from the ground floor bedroom was already very pretty, with flowers in the front garden. Great base for exploring the North Lake District.
