Amazing characterful place, plenty of history. Friendly and helpful staff. Food at the restaurant was very good.

Although the pub was very old, and full of character the room was in need of modernisation (secondary glazing would've kept the street noise out in the morning), and the bathroom was very dated, chips in the bath, and didn't feel clean. Lighting in the bathroom was poor, (no window) plus the extractor didn't work.

Characterful old pub which is delightfully quirky, centrally located and with a good breakfast.

Not much the owners can do but parking is a bit of an issue - need to plan arrival time carefully to get a space in the car park down the road and then walk up to the pub with luggage. I guess you could drop off a member of your group at the door the then find somewhere to park.

It was in the centre of Whitby. Clean and friendly staff.

There was no milk in our room to make coffee. Also could not get the tv to work, but I didn’t go down to ask as only there on night.

Staff absolutely not interested that I had mobility issue this was questioned at booking regarding lowest floor to accessible issues too high to walk. they said 3 flights to climb! Friend was in a mobility scooter!! The room bit tired and very dirty in my eyes compared to older inns stayed in. Drink tray had debris in it, tables dirty, plugs used extension leads hanging down, the toilet was disgusting in that the fixings were rusted and look awful plus the bath had stains in it not very pleasant. The bed valance was stained. The man who booked us in not bothered no names, so miserable and unhelpful not interested about concerns and was quite flippant ln his reply about my concerns . Will absolutely never recommend staying over. The only person nice was the waiter who served us breakfast he was pleasant anc attentive.
