The Victoria Hotel

The location was good, (20 mins walk into the centre,)although it is on a busy crossroads, but that didn’t bother us. The staff were lovely and friendly. And it was a bonus that we could leave our car in their car park whilst we had our afternoon in York.

I think we had the room with the boiler cupboard, so it was constantly going off I’m presuming whenever someone was running a tap, so that kept waking me up, the shower was also very poor pressure, maybe when more than one room is using their showers? . The room & bathroom were clean but the bathroom mirror was smeared from it being wiped, so I had to buff it with a towel just to see in it. The pillows were dreadfully thin, they could do with being replaced. The breakfast would have been banging had it have been hot, sadly most of it was Luke warm and almost cold, there was only one guy cooking and serving.

Ideal location for the Barbican venue. Comfortable bed, nice towels, very helpful and friendly landlord. Tasty and filling breakfast included in the price.

Bathroom plumbing rather noisy. No ledge or holder to put soap or gel on in the shower.

The pub itself was quirky in a pleasant way.

We had a boiler in our room that fired up all night, the location was too far from the centre , no drinking glasses in the room and very small towels, the shower had no power was slow . The boiler in the cupboard in our room made the room very warm . The humidifier did very little we also brought our own fan
